About The Full Stack Farmer

Hey there! My name's Kevin and I'm The Full Stack Farmer.

I'll admit, it's a bit of strange name but hear me out. I've worked in the IT field since 2010 and became a full stack developer back in March of 2018 - hence "The Full Stack" part. I also have a family history of farming. My grandparents, aunt, uncle, and several family friends have farmed their entire lives. I grew up around it and had multiple opportunities to work on both the farm and the farmer's market.

Around 2019, I came across the concept of vertical farming and controlled environment agriculture (CEA), which was a lot more technically oriented than the traditional soil-based farming I grew up with. I thought getting more involved in that area would be a great way to combine two of my largest interests - tech and agriculture.

At that point, I started expirementing with hydroponics and automated growing systems, eventually producing enough to sell at local farmer's markets in 2023. That's where the "Farmer" comes from.

Combine the two and you have "The Full Stack Farmer", where I share my experiences, lessons, and journey from developer to farmer. Let's be real though - I'll never stop being a developer, because I love to code and build things. I'm just applying that passion to the field of agriculture.
